Author of the pioneering book "South African Fine Art - The Soweto School of Art", Martin G Britz is the leading international authority on the artworks created by a group of South African black male artists who lived and worked in Soweto, South Africa during the height of apartheid. Martin's book is the product of some 25 years of interviews, research, collecting, documenting and archiving their personal stories, interpretations of their artworks, personal histories, and artworks. The book shares with its readers Marty's close personal friendships with the individuals in the group. The "Soweto School of Art" has received international recognition by leading academics, as the first black "art movement" or "school of art" to emerge from the African continent.
